Milling Technology
Machinists specializing in milling technology are entrusted with activities in the field of machining production on milling machines, as well as on boring and milling machines. Tasks may include the accurate manufacture of workpieces for machines, devices and systems by means of milling and drilling operations on conventional or numerically controlled machine tools. Machinists specializing in milling technology work according to technical documents, plan the production sequence and create programs for controlled machines. They set up milling machines or boring and milling machines, including tools and fixtures. They monitor the production process, check the quality of the workpieces, evaluate the work results and carry out quality assurance measures.
After training, the activities are performed largely independently in compliance with the relevant regulations, safety provisions, documents and instructions.
Turning technology
The occupation of cutting machine operator specializing in turning technology is qualified for activities in the field of metal-cutting production on machine tools used in turning technology. Up to now, these tasks were mainly covered by the occupations of lathe operator and roll lathe operator. Machinists specializing in turning technology work according to technical documents, plan the production sequence and create programs for controlled machines. They set up lathes including tools and fixtures. They monitor the production process, check the quality of the workpieces, evaluate the work results and carry out quality assurance measures.
After training, these activities are performed largely independently in compliance with the relevant regulations, safety provisions, documents and instructions.

Ausbildungsdauer:
3,5 Jahre
Die duale Ausbildung erfolgt im Betrieb und in der Berufsschule. Bei sehr guten Leistungen kann die Abschlussprüfung vorgezogen werden.
Apprenticeship schedule:
1st year of training:
- Manual skills on the vice
- Turning conventional
- Milling conventional
2nd year of training:
- Preparation for the intermediate examination
- Intermediate examination
- Rotation through departments (welding shop, inspection, sawmill, warehouse, assembly)
3rd year of training:
- CNC-turning
- CNC-milling
- Preparation for the final examination
4.th year of training:
- Final exam

Opportunities:
There are many opportunities for further training after the apprenticeship. The path to becoming an industrial foreman, technician or graduate engineer is open. Skilled workers in the field of machining mechanics (milling technology or turning technology) have excellent opportunities on the job market.
