Milestone – 100th IBF plant

Last week NTG received the order for the 100th IBF plant from a well-known long-term customer in Germany. This is the continuation of our 30-year success story: “Ion beam processing from NTG”.

For our company, this is a reason to celebrate, but also an incentive for the future years, in which we want to expand our outstanding market position and strengthen it with new innovative solutions.

As a foundation stone for this, we have recently started the building of a new production hall.

However, we not only want to expand our production area, but also our team of employees. Currently, there are still apprenticeship positions available for metal cutting mechanics for 2022. Millers and electrical engineers are also very welcome to apply to us.

Neu in unserem Maschinenpark Makino D200Z Graphite

Our new 5-axis milling Centre for the machining of our graphite products has arrived. With a spindle speed of up to 30000 rpm and a machining area designed for graphite machining, the D200Z complements our equipment park in terms of graphite production.

In the near future, it will be used to machine our extraction grids for our ion sources with the highest precision in order to further improve the shape stability of the ion beam. With a machining area of 300mm diameter and 210mm high, the grids for our complete range of ion source extraction systems can be manufactured, as well as other graphite components.

You can find more information and an overview of our complete machine park here

Buncher for GSI

After several decades of operation, some components of GSI’s accelerator complex are being renewed, including this spiral buncher for extremely low RF frequency (36 MHz). Because of the low frequency and the corresponding long wavelength, the support stem of the drift tube is wound into a spiral. This spiral has a coaxial cooling water guide on the inside up to just before the drift tube. What was soldered 30 years ago was in this case subjected to a galvanic manufacturing process. This additive method allows extreme flexibility in the shape design with corresponding potential for optimising the high-frequency properties.
